Tonight is the night that Northwest Wisconsin Speaks! Join us at the Siren Seniors Community Center (23943 Hwy. 35) from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and be part of this exercise in democracy.
State Senator Janet Bewley and State Representative Nick Milroy will be there to listen, as will Kelly Westlund representing U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin. We’ll be saving seats for State Representatives Adam Jarchow and Romaine Quinn, State Senator Sheila Harsdorf, U.S. Representative Sean Duffy, and U.S. Senator Ron Johnson.
The purpose of this event is to provide a public forum in which citizens can express their concerns in a safe and respectful environment. Our moderator, Malia Malone, will call on people to speak and make sure that things proceed in an orderly manner. We are discouraging speakers from trying to engage those elected officials present in dialogue; this night is for citizens to speak and our representatives to listen. (They’ll have time at the end to respond.)
The entire event will be videotaped and copies sent to those elected officials who were unable to attend.
Depending on how many sign up to speak, your time at the microphone will be limited to somewhere between two and four minutes. You can choose to address state or national issues … or both.
Please join us tonight in Siren, and consider signing up to share what’s on your mind. This is a night for average citizens to have their say!
In solidarity and unity,
